Elisa – NFC Product Launch

Elisa, a leading Nordic mobile network operator, uses Savantor’s expertise in advanced payment technologies to diversify into new markets

To achieve their objective of launching an innovative new mobile contactless product, Elisa recognised their requirement for additional expertise in new payment technologies and the ability to understand and navigate through international payment scheme processes.

Savantor, as experts in the payment cards market, was selected by the mobile network operator to assist with their fast-moving new initiative and to provide the framework and necessary expertise to undertake the programme successfully.

Savantor’s team undertook the following:

  • Comparison of different international scheme products in relation to Elisa’s requirement
  • Identification of key differences between payment scheme products and suppliers in terms of NFC and EMV technology.
  • Review of appropriate form factors including NFC-enabled mobile phones and contactless stickers.
  • Recommendation of optimum product set to fulfil Elisa’s requirements.
  • Review of potential partner opportunities in terms of business and operational models and processes.
  • Guidance for application to MasterCard as a Payment Institution and the relevant scheme licences to support the Elisa initiative.
